This Little Light of Mine Mini Quilt from Baby Boomer Quilting Bee

"This Little Light of Mine" Quilt pattern by Wendy Shephard, Ivory Spring Quilts is just the sweetest. For Christmas, our Quilt Bee chose to play Secret Santa and make a homemade gift.  A mini wall quilt made with one block and my stash of Tim Holtz fabric was a great combination.

I started early one morning, sewing off and on, and finishing late that night.  My favorite process of quilting is piecing (just ahead of cutting), so this one block was so enjoyable.  I  quilted feathers with holly berry leaves and hand bound for a finishing touch.

On my 2023 ...

Goddess Kali small quilt from Bizarre Quilter

Oh, this is my goddess Kali altar cloth set up.

It took me a lot of energy to hold space for the creation of this altar cloth, particularly as I made another one at the same time for someone else, and she wasn't energetically ready for hers yet.

I love creating sacred spaces of intention. Here I am, connection to the ancestors position.... high vibe, my key.

Hello Goddess Kali. The Destroyer.

Taking away the old path, so that we must take a new one.

Finishing the Miniature Quilt from From My Carolina Home

Today I’ll show the finishing of the miniature fans quilt. When I left off, the little top was fully assembled, pieced with 50 wt Aurifil thread.

Now, how to quilt it was the question. This is the time when many of us just stop and stare, or put it away for later, creating stacks of UFOs. I tend to leave things out and just make myself get to them so I have few UFOs. Answering all the questions of how to quilt it, what to quilt it with, what batting to use, what thread to use is the basis ...

Assembling the Miniature Quilt from From My Carolina Home

I finished the tiny cornerstones on my last post on this quilt, and now was ready to assemble the blocks into the little top.

This is an exercise in patience, as these little blocks have to be precisely pinned. It is tedious work and took an entire day to get the assembly completed. First, I took two blocks and pinned through the corners on the top side. I used clips as well to keep the edges straight.

Looking underneath at the block on the bottom confirms the pins are holding the corners together and in alignment. Note that the pins ...

Working on the Miniature Quilt from From My Carolina Home

Progress was made on the miniature quilt this past week. The paper piecing is going well. I had a few comments about working with tiny bits, and I do hear you! I usually use larger pieces than are needed, then cut off the excess as I go. It does result in a bit more waste, but it is worth that to save my sanity, LOL!! So, at the last post, I had seven tiny blocks done, the last four were chain pieced.

I had nine to go, and decided to do them in the same manner as it really did ...

Teal Mini Swap from Baby Boomer Quilting Bee

The annual Teal Mini Swap, hosted by EvaPaige Quilt Designs, is their way to help raise awareness of ovarian cancer during the months of July through September.  There is a limit of 500 participants over the United States and Canada, who make and swap either a mug rug or miniature quilt.  From the $15 registration fee, $10 is directly donated to OCRFA, Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance.

For 2019, Art Gallery Fabrics (AGF) donated the beautiful fabric.  The swappers were required to use this print somewhere in their project (see above).  Lucky for me, I have a HUGE collection ...
